Last week, the first trial dinners of the new Vuurtoreneiland Restaurant have been taking place. After taking a rough winter boat trip, the new restaurant and its owners welcomes you in the warmth of the old fort.
The interior has been kept fairly restrained, allowing the existing steel, bricks and windows to tell the story of the soldiers. With a minimum of necessary interventions, the space has been made comfortable. There is a strong correlation with the unique food experience of Chef Sander Overeinder, who makes his dishes in his wood-only kitchen.
